Two men who played key roles in shaping Shure from the 1940s through the 1980s were Vic Machin and Ray Ward.
Mr. Machin joined Shure in November 1942 as a Technical Sales Consultant. During World War II, he served as Government Sales Representative. After the A vital role in growing the Company war, he was instrumental in expanding the sales of mobile communications and hearing aid cartridges to the point where Shure dominated both markets.

Mr. Machin held a series of positions, including Vice President of Sales and then Vice President, Marketing and Manufacturing. In 1978, he was appointed Executive Vice President of Marketing, Manufacturing, and Personnel, the highest ranking position in the Company under Sidney N. Shure. He held that position until he retired in 1979.

Mr. Ward joined Shure in July 1952 as a Sales Correspondent. He subsequently became Marketing Services Manager; Vice President, Sales and Marketing Promotion; Executive Vice President of Marketing; and Executive Vice President. During his career with Shure, Mr. Ward was responsible for managing U.S. and international sales, marketing, quality assurance, patents and trademarks, and long-range planning. He retired in 1989.
