A letter from Lieutenant Marshall Levin, son of Lena Levin, who was assembling microphones for oxygen masks on the Pilot Line in 1944, read:
Dearest Mom:
It was sure a surprise to hear that you are working at a war job. If that is what you want to do, and it isn’t too hard on you, I say more power to you. My oxygen mask has a Shure microphone in it. When I got it, I wondered how it would stand the hard usage we give it, but I’ve been using it a long time and it is still working perfectly.… You can tell the girls that the Microphones have been on some of the toughest raids in the war.
