In an announcement for the 1960 Los Angeles High Fidelity Music Show, Connie Stevens, a recording star and actress, was photographed with five of Shure’s most popular microphones: (left to right) 520SL Dispatcher, 510 Hercules, 55S Unidyne, 520 Green Bullet, and 430 Commando. Held at the Pan Pacific Auditorium, it was the fifth year for the show.
A few months later, these products were also on display at the Electronic Parts Show in Chicago; and in a letter to employees, Sidney N. Shure wrote: “We will be introducing more new products than we ever have at any of the previous 19 shows.…Our rugged Commando Microphone is being adapted for a flexible mounting for use in language study laboratories, commercial public address systems, paging systems, and other installations. The popular Dispatcher and Green Bullet have been adapted for single sideband use in the amateur radio field.”
At the same show, Shure also introduced a Broadcast Stereo Equalizer, used in broadcasting in conjunction with Shure Dynetic Phonograph Cartridges, and a Shure stereo preamplifier for use with phonograph cartridges and microphones.
