Shure Apps Tech Tip #76: MX Gooseneck Mic Mounted To A Floor Stand

Most MX400 series gooseneck microphones are mounted to a lectern, pulpit, or tabletop.  On occasion, a customer requests a method for mounting an MX400 to a mic floor stand.  Here are three suggested methods.  Each method employs an MX400 series model that has a cylindrical preamp permanently attached to the gooseneck. On July 5, 1952, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, then Supreme Commander of NATO forces, came to Chicago to present Sergeant Leonard A. Funk with a Medal of Honor at a luncheon. In the photo, General Eisenhower salutes Sergeant Funk, a member of the 83rd Airborne Division. Shure becomes Military Supplier-WWII

When United States Signal Corps inspectors approved the T-17 Microphone made by Shure in 1942, Shure officially “joined the Army.” The change was aptly described as “the factory taking office civilians and putting on an Army uniform.” Shure production lines were redesigned for new products and higher production levels. In 1933, Shure started publishing The Shure Technical Bulletin, the earliest publication devoted to the “advancement of microphone technique,” which addressed audio reproduction and sound installation. Similar bulletins continue to be published by Shure in 2000, covering a broad range of topics involving the application of sound technology.
